I am having trouble deciding between a GTX Titan or a GTX 690. I know that the 690 currently beats the Titan, however I have heard this may change with driver updates. I also know that the 690 is a dual GPU card and dual GPU support in many games is still bad. I guess my question is, I will be buying one of these in the next 2-3 months, I play alot of indie and older games, and I will run a 3 monitor setup, which do you think will be a better solution, and how much of a hassle is a dual GPU card?
Go for the titan. Less power consumption and what you listed. It overclock considerably more too because of GPU boost 2 or whatever it's called. However, if you go for dual GPU, go for the 7990 as it is actually better than the 690 in most benchmarks.
Well if you are going to play older games, why get something as expensive as a titan or 690, why not just get something cheaper like a 7970, 680, or 670?
Titan; you get a much larger VRAM pool, you remove micro-stuttering, and you get the possibility of adding 3 more Titans, instead of just 1 more 690.
Because I will play lots of new high end games in the future, I was just saying I also play the occasional older game.
Titan over 690. Even if you do plan on playing "High End" games getting a gtx 680 or 7970 is way more cost effective to performnace. You are paying a 200-300 dollar premium just for "the best". You can get three 7970s for marginally more, and that will play high res games across multi montiors much better then a single Titan
