Hey, so I am building my first PC today, for gaming and for video editing (budget.)
Any tips on how much space I need to build it?
I have watched a lot of people build PC's but I want some advice from people who have built PC's (here).
So, things I have been wondering are :
Is it ok to build a PC on the carpet if I constantly discharge my electricity (like tie a wire from my wrist to my case)
Should I wear rubber gloves so no oils get on the components?
Do I need a lot of space to build one?
Is it easy to install OS from USB drives?
Is installing drivers easy?
How do you install an AMD CPU (i hear its a lot harder than an intel as I know for a fact, AMD has pins on the CPU's, people say to me it's much harder.)
How long does it take to install drivers?
My build is simple so it should take me 25-45 minutes to build it as I know how to do it off memory, I just don't know the small details for better building and better results.
Hey there.
I wouldn't recommend building on a carpet, although you could be safe if you make sure you hold the chassis while using the other hand to install your component. But I personally don't recommend it.
I would only use gloves myself on something like the top of the CPU. It's not really necessary but you could use it for some extra peace of mind. You should be safe without it, I've never had to use them.
If you're building from scratch, your space can be taken up fairly quickly. You don't NEED heaps of space, but it makes it so much easier.
Fairly easy. I did it. There are plenty of guides out there for windows OS.
Drivers are simple. Just go online and search for your component.
AMD CPUs are slightly harder but nothing worth worrying about, they can only go in one way so make sure you have it right. They're easier to bend but you should not have to apply much force at all to get it in the socket, if you have to, something is wrong.
If you're building from scratch, you'll most likely take much longer than 25-45 minutes. My advice is to take your time and take breaks. Put everything in places you'll be able to find and if you get stuck, google it or come back to the forums and ask for help.
I also apologise about my terrible sentence structure. I'm very tired and can't be bothered fixing it XD
So you will need like 1x1 meters of space on a table is best.Yes the thing with the discharge is very good that you know that just make sure you constantly touch your case (if its metal). When youre installing the CPU yes by all means wear glovesjust make sure you dont tough the bottom (or top just in case).hod it in the edges of the CPU.AMDs CPU instalment is easire than inteals! They even call it the Zero insertion for AMD CPUs.Oh and if youve forgot:install the termal paste using Logans way:http://www.youtube.com/watch?
I highly recommend you watch this whyle you build your PC:

It's ok, thanks for the tips :D
