Time to choose a monitor. Need help

Hey guys

I've built a new machine a few months ago, and it is time to move to a new monitor since I'm stucked with a 1440x900 panel...

I've been looking around for a while then I found out that my aunt's office can give me a 20% off on all the DELL's panels.

I'm a gamer, but I'm also a photographer, I don't have a big budget so I need to choose between an E2314h or a P2314h, they're pretty much the same 1080p 23 inch monitor, but the fisrt is a TN panel and the second is IPS.

I would really like to go IPS but, with 8msGTG response time, is it going to be blurry in gaming applications?

And are IPS panel so much better than TN when you look at those? Will I be able to use my ps3 on one of those monitor with the right adapter??

Thank you a lot guys

Any response times below one frame time (16ms for 60Hz) are hardly ever noticeable. P2314H performs well under 16ms so you won't have any issues with that. There may be issues with aggressive overdrive though (Dell likes it for some reason).

Anyway, I recommend you to read this review:

Just want to throw in that those monitors don't have built in speakers or a headphone jack afaik (plus, DVI doesn't carry audio signals), so you'll need a solution to get sound from the PS3 to speakers/headphones.

There are adapters available that should do the trick but make sure you'll get one with an extra cable attached for the audio signal. However, I can't say anything about the quality of those.

If you can save up a bit more I would recommend the Dell U2414H. I don't have it, so I can't speak from experience (but I'm gonna buy it either this year or in January) but it has great reviews, HDMI ports and audio out so you can plug in headphones (or speakers if you spend a few bucks on a small 3.5mm-to-chinch adapter; or whatever cables your speakers need).
