Time for Change?

Alright, so I currently am playing with my modded to death PC. I have had it for 6 years, and upgraded the processor, RAM, gpu, psu, and hard drive, over the 6 years. It has done well but I was playing some BF3 and started checking my FPS. On all Low settings I was barely getting 20fps. This has been continually happening so I think it might be time for me to get a new PC. But, before I do I just want to post my specs here and maybe you guys will have some information or me as to it is just my pc being outdated or if there might be another problem. My specs are:

  • Intel Core2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.5ghz ($45 upgrade)
  • GTX 650
  • 4gb of RAM @ 1333mhz (stock)
  • 550w PSU (given to me by friend)
  • Western Digital 1tb Caviar Green

So, yeah those are my current specs. I will build my next rig and have 2 build ideas. I do lots of LAN events so that is where I got the inspiration for the first build, also I think they look BA. The 2nd build is probably more practical and a much better platform for expandability.

This would fit in with your LAN events nicely.

Well, what I was going to do was just start with a 256gb SSD and buy another one when I need it. I like the mITX build a lot but I am kind of leaning more towards a traditional build just becasue this will be my only PC for the moment at least.
