So here’s my situation. I have an Oculus Rift I use with my Clevo P775DM3-G Laptop. The laptop has 2 USB 3.1 type A ports, 2 USB 3.0 Type A ports, and one Thunderbolt 3 Type C port and one USB 3.1 Type C port.
I’m using 3 sensors for roomscale. Issue is 2 of them saturate all of my USB 3.0 controller’s bandwidth. What I’ve been doing so far is plugging 2 sensors into the 3.1 type A ports, 1 into the type C with an adapter, and then plugging my headset into one of the 3.0 ports. This works but leaves me with a single USB port remaining. When VR isn’t connected I have every port in use by my dock and peripherals.
So what I’m looking for is a thunderbolt 3 adapter (not usb 3.1 but actual thunderbolt) that can give me 4 USB 3.0 ports on their own controller.
The only method I’ve seen so far is buying an egpu dock and using a pcie USB 3.0 expansion card. Problem is those docks are $300+
Is there anything cheaper out there I may not be aware of?
