Case: Coolermaster Cosmos II
Processor: AMD FX-8350 Vishera
Mobo: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R1.0
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master V8 Rifle Bearing
RAM: G.Skill Sniper Gaming Series DDR3-1833 16GB (2x8)
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 680 4GB
SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB
HDD: 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM
PSU: Corsair HX1050
I intend to get a Corsair H100i at some point, as well as more RAM and an Asus Xonar Essence sound card.
Uhmm wow. This sounds like it's going to be one heck of a high horse machine (potentially at least). If so I would definitely try and go for an intel solution, maybe an i7 3770k. Make sure your RAM voltage is 1.5 or lower. The corsair hx series is good, but I would go for something seasonic or go for the corsair axi series psus.
I just checked the ram and it is :) What is better about the AXi series that would make the extra hundred worth it? Also, same question with the Intel i7-3770K. One of the reasons I chose an AMD set up is because of the huge price difference between them.
If you are concerned about price then go for a i5 3570k or a 2500k, or grab a 670 instead of a 680, not a big performance difference but you can find it for 100-150 dollars off. What I would fo is go for a i5 and a 670, get rid of one of the hard drives and also try to get a water cooler in there, but thats just me. Other then that it is a very solid build.
Edit: Don't you need the 2.0 motherboard for compatibility with that CPU ?
For the R1.0 Motherboard you need to flash the updated BIOS (on Asus' website) and then it will be combatible with the 8 core Vishera processors. Okay, I'll look into the the i5's and i7's and see what I can work out. As far as the CPU Water Cooler, the H100i is only 50 bucks more than the V8 I chose right now. If the performance is really that much better, I'm sure I can make the leap.
If you're concerned about the price, then you shouldn't be getting that Cosmos II, lol. Get a cheaper case and grab an i7. AMD's CPUs are nice for lower budgets, but with a budget like this, you should really be going Intel.
Okay I didn't know that about the motherboard and like I said if you need the headroom you could sacrifice one of the hard drives.
Here are some ideas for the CPU and motherboard

I actually already own the Cosmos II... otherwise I would go for a cheaper case. I don't own anything else at this point.
Okay thanks! I actually really like the MSI board there and I found the i5-3570k for the same price as that 2500k
Go for the 3570k over the 2500k if it's the same price. Just make sure you have good cooling, as the 3570k runs quite a bit hotter than the 2500k. Also, for your GPU, you may want to get this 7970. It'll offer better performance than the 670, and should keep up with the 680.

Yeah, that msi board is the one in my system and I couldn't be any more happy with it, one of the best boards for overclocking. I've got my 3770k @ 4.6 from 3.5 and I could take it further, and it was the easiest thing to do.
