I really like the 4gb of ram on such a cheap video card. I'd love to hear input and improvements.
Stay clear of that kingston SSD I was looking for the video but can't find it Logan talks about it , how something changed and they're not as reliable as before.
I really appreciate that. It shouldn't be too hard to replace it with something else, most of those 128s are pretty cheap
I like crucial SSD's a lot myself you get a LOT for the money......
If you're gonna be putting unimportant stuff on the HDD, get a green. If you plan to put important stuff, get Black or Red.
Drop down to H97 board, Z97 is a waste for a non 'k' cpu as you wont be overclocing. Dont need the cpu cooler either for the i5, stock cooler suffices. A slightly cheaper case would free up some cash as well.
With that money saved on the above up the gpu to something with more grunt. 4gb 380, 280x, 290 etc.
I 100% agree with @deejeta
A build on this sort of budget you shouldnt be spending over 100 dollars on a case that's silly.
Well A, you should use PC part picker, and B I take it you want an ITX build then? Because otherwise that's an odd layout for an ATX case that isn't the HAF XB.
And C is this strictly a gaming build? Because that case is cutting into your budget
And D what is your total budget, and do you need things like a monitor/headphones/mouse/keyboard
Get rid of that TP link card, unless you're going linux.
I have had nothing but problems with TP-link in windows and in linux it doesn't have any issues.
Also bump that i5 up to a "K" edition. It'll be well worth it.
If you want a square case take this in to consideration its much cheaper and it's MATX and MATX boards are cheaper too

I'm guessing you've a budget of $900 here. Made a partpicker that's the same price (just under $895):

Should do you great with that R9 390, can easily handle higher resolutions than 1080p.
Got a 250GB SSD for a boot drive and some games with a 1TB WD blue for mass storage.
Included a wifi adapter because you did in that wishlist, so presumably you need one.
That 390 comes with a free PNY 2x4GB kit of 2133Mhz DDR3 from newegg atm, too...
Saves you a pretty significant $45. Could go out and buy $45 of catnip.
Would be nice if you could answer some of the questions here:
The embedded link to this topic looks like a mess so this line of text is hyperlinked instead lol
There's a few bits I'd change in the build I suggested earlier depending on the answers to the questions linked above.
Sorry I didn't respond to these last night, I had some things to do and then go to bed. But I like that pccartpicker build. My budget is around 900. I'll just need to find a different wireless card based on what Aremis said.
Will you be running Linux. Because if that were the case you would have to check the wifi adapter for compatibility.
Yeah, I'm looking for a different adapter right now. I'm not finding one that doesn't have lots of bad reviews. That's really that last thing I need for this build and then it should be set
Adaptercard for mini-PCIe Wifi-Cards and then use an Intel mini-PCIe NIC, you can use the thinkpad wiki to verify them. I got the Intel 7260AC and the Centrino Ultimate N-6300 working under Ubuntu (or derivates) and the latter under Debian (you know, of which ubuntu is derived from). Might cost 10-20 bucks more but it is already verified.
Plus: You'll get Bluetooth (which I had problems with under Linux)
Alternatively you could get a socket 1150 motherboard with a mini-PCIe slot for the NIC.
EDIT: Something like this. Only with dual antennas (this would need a second antenna)
You don't need the cpu cooler, the stock cooler is perfect. Also, in my country the 4460 is the same price, so it's a no brainer to get it instead.
