Thoughts On This Build Idea

Hello Tek Syndicate. I am looking to hear your guys' thoughts on my first ever gaming PC I am building this summer/early fall. I have put a lot of research into the parts I want, but criticism is welcome as long as it is constructive. If you can find me a spot to save some greenbacks, feel free to let me know. I am looking to keep components red/black. Looking to spend ~$2000($2300 limit). I am fine with 1080p.

One thing to remember here is, outside of a monitor and mouse, I have no peripherals. I am going from a Gateway laptop with an Athalon X2, to this beast.

Case: Cooler Master Haf-X (I like the features and looks. Will be getting at least another exhaust fan)

Mobo: MSI Gaming 7 (Sounds great for the ~$200 I want to spend on a mobo. However, with future Crossfire in mind, will the x8/x8 PCI 3 bandwith make the performance increase minimal?)

CPU: Devil's Canyon 4790k (Sounds better than haswell for overclocking)

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper EVO 212 (For the price, sounds good.)

RAM: Starting with 8gb, eventually upgrading (Not sure about the whole speed and latency stuff, it is a gaming rig. I just want good RAM for my money.)

PSU: EVGA SuperNova P2 1000w (Not sure if all the power is needed, but with an overclocked CPU and eventually running dual r9 290x-es, I feel it is a good idea. Now I get how the real issue is total +12v amperage, and this puppy puts out 82a, not to mention the nice efficiency factor.)

Graphics Card: Some R9 290x around <$600 (Why the 290x? Because I like the price to performance ratio I get, not to mention I am a big believer in Mantle's future. I am leaning towards the Sapphire Tri-X, but that orange would look goofy with mostly red/black components, right?)

HDD: 3TB 7200rpm (This selection will be based upon sales and such that are going on.)

SSD: 256gb (This will be my game drive. I like a good deal and price, but this component will depend mostly upon sales and such again.)

OS: Looking to jump on the Windows 8 bandwagon. I will be booting up with 7 only to get the student edition of 8.

Optical Drive: Some nice ~$50 blu-ray drive.

Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K70 (MX Browns, heard really good things.)

Headset: Logitech G930 ( Also heard a lot of great things, just curious if the USB interface still uses the mobo's soundcard)

1000 watt psu is overkill dude. maybe if you get crossfire later on.
