I'm in the market for a new pair of headphones or a new headset. I know that headphones are usually the way to go for just about everything, but I'm a little curious about the new sennheiser gaming headsets. Are they really just bad gaming audio? What are your opinions?
Sennhesier is the one exception, but unless you are in the states, they are terrible value. It's pretty much an HD 555/558 headphone with a boom mic attached. It will sound OK, but you are paying a premium for that mic.
Best way to go, is to grab HD 558's for around $125, and a blue snowflake or mod mic for around $30.
Thanks for the input, sorry for the slow reply. I ended up going with a pair of Sennheiser HD 598's for around $180. I also grabbed off a Zalman clip on mic for like $6. I'm moving off from Logitech G35's so this should be a nice upgrade.
i did something very similar and used the zalman for a little while, while it gets the job done it leaves alot to be desired. Look into the mod mic as stated above, i upgraded to a 3.0 and its worth every penny, very good quality and they have a new rev coming out soonish. My friends now say my mic isnt the main reason they want a grand piano to fall on me.
I tested the zalman and it's kind of a POS. It will have to get the job done for a while though, I've been spending WAY too much lately. The modmic looks nice but I don't really want to stick it on my headphones.
