Thoughts on the Division

I have been playing the beta for Tom Clancy's The Division and just wanted to know what everybody else thought of it,

personally i think its pretty good, the voice acting/script is super cheesy though and there needs to be more npc's/enemies but that may come in the full game. Also i think being able to not be a division agent on multiplayer parts should be an option, i hate the way you shoot someone by accident in crossfire and all of a sudden you're a rogue agent and everybody kills you for your bounty even though it was an accident or some dumb ass got in the way.

what does everybody else think?

Just got my beta key so I plan on playin it a bit this week. I'll let you know my 2 cents.

awesome, i hope i didnt spoil any of it

I haven't played it yet but from what I've watched I agree that the rogue system seems flawed. The other big complaint is that everyone is a bullet sponge. Other than that it looks good and I think has some potential.

I actually wanted to start this topic as well, nice.

I've played a lot thanks to @Eden shooting me a key.

Some things I like:

Dark Zone is interesting PvP and otherwise
Gameplay does seem team focused
Looks like a variety of things will be added, like crafting system
Attachments are cool
Missions have a bit of variety, decent actions even with full groups
Game has a good amount of variety and seems pretty open on doing what you want
Reminds me of Destiny

Things I don't care for:

The Dark Zone mode has shitty forced spawns that force you to run across to leave the mode. This is especially annoying as the 'Dark Zone' quest is around only level 5, I had to quit/reopen to get back to a spawn where I could leave. You don't have much of a chance with base weapons in the Dark Zone, especially alone.

I agree the rogue agent is flawed, and a bit ridiculous. Accidental shots have already happened to me more than once. Grouping is also a bit much, as some will just camp extraction zones to steal from others.
The group system lets anyone take direction- which is cool, but when you get match-made for non PvP you might find your group going in completely different directions and not really receiving any ping to 'come back to the group.'
I also had a minor issue with group members disappearing mid-game and reappearing during combat... Pretty strange.
Its like Destiny. I don't care much for games that make me grind a lot for good gear, which is what this seems like. Now, I could be wrong- as I already have blue weapons, but it was def a ride to get those... Plus extracting from the dark zone is very difficult alone, and matchmaking didn't support dark zone yet, so you basically have to try for it with folks you know.

All in all I'd say its looking good but definitely needs a good touch up, which is usually the point of a beta.

It seems pretty awesome for the most part. I've had my eye on it a while and hope to get in early. With what you mentioned about the rogue status, I hope they can somehow find a compromise on how that works. It's a good concept to try to keep people in line, but with some of the videos I've seen of people playing it still seems like a hot mess. Hopefully it won't ruin the experience.

On the related channel, TeamPGP, Grizzle did a bit of gameplay. It looked interesting, but I kind of agree with him in it being formulaic.

I had a fun time playing it, but the beta was so limited there wasn't much to do. Yes yes there was the darkzone, which I played several hours of, I went rogue, survived several man hunts, killed lootless people for fun, mostly solo I might add.

All in all I don't think the beta is enough to tell how the game will be once it launches.

I have no PC friends and i always end up playing multiplayer games solo, suck when its a game like this too where its designed for teams

Looks boring and repetitive
The game itself could be good, hopefully has enough content in it to warrant the price
But the beta?
Waste of space imo

I did a performance review of it here

I found it really fun tbh, more than I expected it to be. I won't be pre ordering based off the beta but i'm definitely going to be waiting eagerly for a review.

I just hope it has enough depth to warrant a purchase, how fleshed out the gear and loot system will be, how fun and extensive the dark zone is and whether there's actually a good story.

Wasn't really keeping tabs on this game, remember seeing the 2013 E3 "this is what we hope the game plays like" presentation. The before and after analysis is always interesting, no where near as bad as Alien Colonial Marines - still pissed off at Gearbox for not delivering on what they showed. From researching a little it seems they did cut back on the size of the play area - I understand they are only focusing on Manhattan type theme for the map and they cut Brooklyn.

I really liked the atmosphere and was really drawn in by the weather effects and the lighting. I'm not a pixel counter but it looked sharp on my 1440 display, you can always critique on textures being over used like the same exact graffiti being cut and pasted everywhere.

The repetitive missions might be its main weakness, in the beta I did the rescue hostages like three times and it was almost all the same setup. The enemies rank up with you to become bullet sponges, which wouldn't be a bad thing if there was more randomization in the way the missions are setup. I think of games like SWAT where they would place enemies in different locations to keep you on edge and I don't know why they don't have that with a game like this where you are encouraged to repeat missions numerous times to gain money and loot.

There's discussion of the beta being rampant with cheating in the PvP arena, thankfully I didn't experience it but hoping they have a solution to that problem on the PC.

I had fun with the beta, more than I thought I would but I'll wait and see if they work out some of the issues before picking it up.

I found this link for extra skins for the game, you have to be in the US apparently but you can use a VPN to get around the restriction.
