I've heard mixed opinions on slimdrivers, some say it works like a charm, others say some of the drivers it gives are useless or corrupted, and I just wanted to get the consensus of this forum, thanks for any replies!
I've had good luck with it, personally. Remember that the rule of freeware applies and to decline any and all optional offers during installation.
Never, and I really do mean never use 3rd party software to update/install drivers on your computer. At best they're half-assed hack jobs that do the work, but in a sloppy way, and you end up with an unsigned, barely functioning driver. At worst you end up with some extremely nasty and hard to overcome complications due to the software going way out in left field and doing some dumb shit.
Use Windows Update, and the update tools provided ONLY by your hardware manufacturers. You'll thank me later.
Dude. If a tool like SlimDrivers works, why not use it?
I've noticed that, in my experience anyway, it's pulling the drivers from the official sites -- isn't that what you'd be doing anyway?
I'm sure there are some drivers utilities that behave badly, but that's no reason to assume they all misbehave. That's like swearing off browsers because Chrome is a resource hog.
