I noticed that lately @wendell and @Logan have been doing their best to explain how Patreon money is being divided for legitimate business expenses vs. steaks and Ferraris. I've been watching The Tek for years, since the days of Wendell peeking through a plethora of monitor arms (not unlike Wilson from Home Improvement), and I just have one thing to say regarding yall's bookkeeping.
Why can't Logan eat a God damn steak? Honestly when I become a Patreon member I want the funds to go towards business costs AND towards living a bit more comfortably. Why not have a bbq for the team every now and then? Do supporters want you guys to just be anal robots with the money instead? Yeah, it's good to be efficient/smart with the money. I just don't understand how any veteran viewer of The Tek could be a stickler on what the money is used for. If you ask me, anyone who thinks like that and doesn't want Logan to eat a steak is a communist and isn't a true fan of The Tek.
No one here complains. Must weirdness in the Patreon discussion. Honestly the money gets divided for the show, and employment. After the employment pay is given it isn't anyone's business after.
Logan had mentioned once that some people seemed negative/borderline jealous of the Patreon money coming in. I figure they are the minority, which is a good thing!
Yeah, I'm not sure where Logan hears the talk about people being anal about the money. Honestly, I would urge him to just tell those people to fuck off. If they chose to give their money voluntarily it does not mean they can decide what it is used for. Hell, I've been a Tek Support II member for years now, if Logan told me he used my money to buy booze every weekend I would say hell yeah, enjoy it. Now, if he stopped making YouTube videos I wouldn't keep donating, but I don't mind supporting him while he does.
I know they need the money to stay afloat, and keeping things like this forum online costs money, so there has to be a teeny tiny bit of nicety. But if you are one of those people out there who donates your money, and then bitches about how that money is spent or questions how it is being used.
To be honest, I really don't care what they do with the money. If @Logan want's a steak He can have a Steak. I don't care If @wendell wants to upgrade to 40Gb/s Ethernet. I don't care If they want spend on Booze and Girls of be my guest. I don't care
All I want to see is some more content, but I also have huge respect of work that goes into creating every video or tutorial as i know it not easy and take a huge amount of time. So Keep doing what you do ;)
Small Note: I support Tek Syndicate because I like the content,people and the community. People have to remember no one is forcing you to donate.
You do realize my focus was on letting them know I would support them no matter where the money goes. Haven't you watched their goofy antics enough to know that I was just trying to give them a laugh? Also by "true fan" I simply meant someone who adores The Tek wouldn't be critical of where the money goes if they continue to push out quality content. We've been watching it free on Youtube for the longest time so you should understand where I'm coming from. They've always given me a laugh and I'll be sure and put my money where my mouth is.
