I wanted to know what the community thinks of LoL. I am not asking to troll or anything, I just pretty much want to know what the community thinks of the Esports part of it and not the community or gameplay its self. So type away :)
It's boring to watch in my opinion.
Edit: I think I best clarify my position. I think MOBAs are boring to watch.
I really think dota2 is a good game, but its steep learning curve is a turnoff. I honestly dont hate any moba out there except HON.
I just don't see why its interesting too watch, mobas in general that is. I can get games like CSS or CS:GO more. But I don't like to play Mobas so that might be why I wouldnt watch it. I don't think that you need alot of skill you just need to learn about it enough and know what is best against what you are playing against while in CS you kinda need better reaction time and hand to eye control. I might be completely wrong but from my point of view thats what I feel mobas are about. @Morgoth780 I agree its boring to watch I would rather play a game or watch a funny youtube video of some other game.
esports are destroying twitch. seriously, when worlds are on for LoL, everyone else has an insane level of lag, and the chat usually kills all the time
i like dota 2 and LoL but would never just watch them
It's a fun game. There is a learning curve, but it is enjoyable to play
I enjoy watching Dota 2, but it depends on who is announcing it and usually will only sit through an entire game if it's the International.
Otherwise I'll have a difficult time sitting throughout the entire game.
I despise LoL for a few major reasons, and prefer Dota2/WC3Dota much more (I have played LoL, and it was actually my first MOBA)
- The level of hand-holding when starting out, its really nice as someone new to the game type, but terrible for those who have experience and want to try others.
- The absolute lock down on what heroes/characters/whatever you have available to play as from the time that you begin. I wouldn't mind if it gave you quite a few characters to choose from, but you have your weekly draft and possible one or two characters you have to purchase or whatever.
- The absolute monarchy the devs have over the game's "pro" players and tournaments. Why is this even a thing? It's like if Apple were to go into gaming. But what's terrible is an article I read about how the "pro" or tournament level league players are expected to not publicize any other games but LoL during the tournament times.
I don't think it's an entirely bad game, it's just another MOBA, and I'm not going to compare it to others, These are just points that really degrade my opinion and experience with the game.
Totally agree, I can't watch my speedrunners/SSBM while a League Tourni is happening. The Starcraft Tournies don't even impact the servers half as much as when League is happening.
I am extremely biased when it comes to LoL, at least when it comes to Twitch.
Like Commissar said, esports are really screwing up twitch. I am a live streamer on there, have been for a few months, and whenever a tourney is on I feel like something goes wrong. Either on my end, or for the viewers.
A lot of times when a tourney is on viewers experience constant buffering, of course the chat servers can get hurt really bad too.
As for the game itself... eh. I tried to get into it, but I just can't play a game like that for 30-60 mins at one time. MOBA's are just not my thing.
