I'm looking for an SSD to accommodate my AData SX900 SSD in my rig. I found the Crucial MX100 256GB SSD on PC Part Picker and Amazon have it listed for £73 GBP. I've seen pretty good reviews all round especially for the price. There is also the BX100 model which advertises slightly lower reads but slightly higher writes for almost identical pricing.
So which drive should I pick or are there any better similarly priced ssd's out there? I really don't want to be forking out much as I'm only looking for higher capacity than my 128GB AData SX900 currently dual booting Arch and Win 10.
I'll be using this as either a Windows or Linux boot drive for gaming, programming etc.
I've used the MX100 256gb and it's quite a fast ssd (reads and writes are right around 500) I highly recommend it but would go for the MX200 considering the marginal difference.
The 850 Evo looks good and its only about £10 more than the mx100. I might take a look at that instead as the random, sequential writes etc are higher in user tests
Good drives, MLC NAND, 75TBW endurance, power loss protection, the 256GB model and above use the smaller NAND packages from Micron which were upgraded from the old M500 drives, the 128GB model uses the old NAND.
It uses a Marvell controller with no known major issues.
Have a look at the price on the Samsung 850 EVO, if it costs more opt for the Crucial.
Ok now I'm unsure, the power loss protection along with the Marvell controller which I haven't heard anything negative about might be a better choice. Hmm....
