Thoughts on $800 Gaming Build

The board looks good, if you can find a good BIOS to it. It just is that all i have heard of it is pretty bad...

Also, 99% of people are saying that the H100 is way louder than air coolers( "However, this performance comes at a cost; noise. At 2600RPM, the H100 isn’t a quiet unit at all and similarly at 2000RPM, it can still be quite intrusive. In terms of performance per noise, high end air coolers from Phanteks, Noctua and Thermalright still reign supreme, contrary to Corsair’s own marketing. Like other ALC units, the H100 relies too much on high RPM fans for its performance when the goal of water cooling is generally for extreme performance at low noise levels"). The noctua cooler would be sufficient for a FX 6300 OC and it would be very quiet. Also, the warranty for refurbished watercoolers was 90 days :/

It is just my 2 cents, OP can decide what he wants himself, I am just saying what I know. :)

Forget the FX-6300. At this price point you can get an i5 which is much better. Here are two builds I came up with:

i5 + R9-280X with an SSD: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3PxpX

i5 + R9-290 without an SSD: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3PxAO This is a few dollars over but worth it IMO.

option1: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3Pyt1

a littlebit over but still a good setup, you could also choose, to grab a 280X card instead, to save some cash. if you like. 280X is still a very capable card.

option 2: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3PyCT

So would the I5 4440 outperform the FX 8350? Or does it just depend on the programs one might use.

Depends on the specific applications. Few games prefer Intel. All things considered, I would go with the 8350. It's overclockable, and it can compete with the higher CPUs in the i5 series, or the i7 series.

Ok thanks

I can only say (from my personal experience) that normal operating fan speeds for the H100 are whisper quiet, even when you put three of them side by side. If you ratchet the fan speed up really high, any fan becomes a noisy one.

Yep and I'll just wait till some parts go on sale to buy them
