Thoughts about my first ever build, any tips?

Hey Everyone,

I am building my first PC. I have this list of parts overall, I think this would be a good first PC with room to upgrade in the future. I just want to hear others opinions and maybe thoughts on how I could improve this. I also never have built one before how should I go about it and cable management? Thanks.

Here is the parts:

Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mid Tower Case
Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
Asus H97M-PLUS Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB ACX 2.0+ Video Card

Any suggestions on what to change it to?

You think I will be able to play the new games coming out if i change my hard drive?

you will have to reinstall them

or if you have an external drive you can copy them to that and then reload them

Hard drives do not affect frame rates

Alright, do you think I would be able to upgrade to this Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti in the future?

you have a decent cpu cooler and a unlocked cpu but you are using a motherboard that does not allow overclocking. also you are probably better off using a i5 6500 + a cheap motherboard with stock cooler then putting the money towards a better gpu like a gtx 1060 or rx 480. maybe going with a single 8gig stick. and cable management is all about aesthetics. unless you have the cables getting sucked into the fans you're fine. just do your best and dont worry about it.

I was debating on see if its gonna be worth it but yeah since if I'm buying the 960 for around 200 or less it would be more reasonable to just buy the 980ti

You can clone partitions, or the drive itself. If you get a bigger drive, its pretty easy to clone and expand the partition in windows disk management tool.

Would this build support the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB? Do you think going with one 8gig is better than two?

I'm sorry I don't understand. what do you mean by clone partitions?

1x 8gig is cheaper and im assuming that like everyone else, you have a budget. cutting of 1x stick of ram, the cpu cooler, and switching to a i5 6500+a cheap micro atx h series board would save you enough money to buy a 480 over then 960 while improving the quality of the build. spending a little more would get you a aftermarket 1060 (think next gen 960) which is about 6% better on avg then a stock 480. supposedly the aftermarket 480's are about 2% better then the aftermarket 1060's but they arent out yet. i dont know your budget so im assuming around what you planed to spend. if you have a hundered or two more to spend i would keep the cooler and go 16g and use an aftermarket 480.

I was thinking with EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB it would improve the build, as well as running at 1080p.

I was watching a few youtube videos and they say i should download drivers, which/where drivers should I download?

the cheapest 980ti i can find(stock not aftermarket) is a little over 380USD after shipping.
the aftermarket 480's and 1060's will go for around 250$ some cheaper some more expensive.
if you have around 400 or more to spend on a gpu i would suggest looking at this

should be around 400 in a month or two when supplies actually meet the demand.

whats the budget?

Would that fit inside my case?

Don't count out the ol' R9 390's which are also dropping in price.

980 ti's are really dropping in price, and are basically a gimped titan. If you want a mostly 4k card I would go that way.

Check out some 970's and regular 980's too. There's deals all the time.

This site helps with comparing multiple vendors: http://pcpartpicker.com/

you have 355mm of gpu clearance in that case and the 1070 is 325mm.

if you have the budget for it i would suggest getting a SSD for the os if nothing else.
