Those that have modded Mice, what have you done?

like the title says, if you’ve changed or modded a mouse what have you done, why did you do it, and are you satisfied with the results? i’d greatly appreciate pics.

i ask because i’m about to start swapping dead left click switches and wonder if there is anything else i can do while i have my mice apart.

The g pro wireless that I use has had much of it’s internal plastic removed for the sake of weight savings. One on my friends used to be *very" into competitive shooters, it was a gift from them.

I’ve replaced switches with lighter actuaton force replacements, that has worked out well in some cases.

For wired mice a new, more pliable cable is another one I’ve done several times. Lots of very pretty paracord to choose from.

Depending on the geometry of the mouse, you can sand the bottom flat and use bigger feet.

People are designing entire replacement shells for some Logitech mice.

Ive modded mice… but I’ve overestimated my desoldering skills.

The Logitech G502 Proteus Core (the OG one) PCB was burnt and I still was not able to desolder the damn thing. Unsure if its also because of my cheapo-ish soldering iron. The spare OMRON switches still sits in my toolbox as a testament to my cheap ass. In retrospect, I should have paid someone to do the desoldering-soldering and maybe my Proteus Core would still be alive and working.

i’ve replaced the switches on multiple G502 Lightspeeds. it’s a pain because of the silver solder and heat sinking. A good solder iron works. I had a somewhat cheap one and was able to do it.

My workflow was to first add lead solder, then use a solder pump to remove solder, heat up both points constantly while keeping pressure on the switch.

Its annoying, now that you say it. I should have thought about that because it sounds so obvious.

It was my very first real soldering job (with no real prior experience) it seems like I bit more than I could chew. I could practice soldering but I dont have any real use case for it at the moment.

But to circle back, I’ve started buying Asus mice recently because it seems to tout primary switch repairability as a feature and so far, they are yet to fail.
