This motherboard with this ram?

I just ordered two sticks of RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231666 with this exact motherboard: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3858039

The RAM speed is 2400 MHZ but the motherboard supports only up to 2133.  So will my RAM even be compatible.  If it is is it compatible of the bat or do I still need to underclock.  I have already recieved the RAM and other parts from newegg just waiting for the tigerdirect parts so I have not attempted to assemble yet.  Thanks for the input!

It supports it, just not "officially." You can change the memory divider and the CPU/NB to 2400 MHz. Put the CPU/NB volts to 1.35v. it will run the memory after manually setting the timings and memory voltage to 1.65v.

I'm really noob when it comes to these things.  would it be better to underclock, if it's even possible, or do what you said above?  And if I do that will it be stable?  And can you link to me to a youtube video or something please?  Thanks so much!

shameless bumb.

The ram should be able to run at 2133 MHz.  Its just like how my 1866 MHz ram can run down at 1333 when I am runing stability tests with new cpu overclocks. (No change in voltage)

This is one of the best people to follow on overclocking either AMD or Intel. He has a lot of experience with both the hardware of both platforms and understands them better than anybody I can think of off the top of my head. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kOlBalkVyA

I can tell you that the new Vishera cores in fact will support 2400 MHz RAM at 2x4GB minimum with their updated Internal memory controller. If you want to get 2x8GB 2400 MHz RAM running on Visheras it might drastically reduce overclocking headroom and not all Vishera cores will do it either.

I do have to say though, you and anybody else who is just now getting into PC building and overclocking, are far better off with the UEFI bios that they provide with hardware these days as opposed to 6-7 years ago. The UEFI bios are far easier to navigate and easier to comprehend than oldschool bios screens from yester-year.

do you have to do any fiddling with the bios?

You will, but it is pretty simple select menu. Just do a bit of online research before if you don't feel comfortable. It should be under RAM frequency, clock frequency, clock speed something like that and it should say the four digit number with Mhz. And It should work the company probably just didn't want to spend the resources verifying it for a frequency that barely anyone will buy and use on this board.

Good luck!
