Thinking about creating a new music cover youtube account. (Please Critique)

Hello guys,

Work has been slow lately, so in order to pass the time, I decided to start making videos on youtube again. I did a little in the past, but got bored and had no time.

I know i'm not the best singer... I would like to know if this sounds alright, so far. I am using Audacity for the audio recording, and the mic is an Audio Technica AT2020. It's a crappy mic, but it has served me well for nearly 4 years.

I added a little reverb, and turned down the gain on two small spots to not blow out people speakers. And I also removed background noise. Are there other techniques, on Audacity, that I can take advantage of?

You can also critique my singing voice. I've never had any training or anything, so it'd be nice to hear feedback.

Like most male singers, your higher notes tend to fall flat, and lower notes sharp. Tempo seems to be a bit of an issue here and there. I'm not sure if it's your voice, the mic, or the effects you used (the removed hissing/whatever you mentioned out did to it) but it sounds a little "nasal-y" to me, if it's just your voice, then all you need to do is use more air (this should also help with your pitches, the first thing I mentioned) just be sure to back the mic up a bit or turn down the gain of the input because you'll more than likely end up being overall louder.

Hope this helped at least a little, good luck.
