Thinking about alibaba for ssd

I've generally come to accept that you pretty much get what you pay for when it comes to hardware, but i was wondering what do people think about getting SSDs from alibaba. I'm skeptical about something that looks like a too good a deal. And i've never used alibaba.

You absolutely do get what you pay for, unless the savings are ridiculous I'd stick with trusted brands.

If you are planning on using it as your primary drive, with a second drive that stores all of your important data (which presumably will be a mechanical drive) and you can afford the downtime if the thing fails and you have to do a full reinstall , give it a shot, and then get back to us and let us know how it worked out.

This is pretty much as i thought thanks.

My main issue with getting it wasn't data loss as i have that covered in triplet for all my really important data and double for less important. What i was most worried about was spending money when i don't really have an income at the moment, and can't afford to buy something only for it to fail. Thanks for the response though.

If you really don't need the performance boost in read/write, I would not get the SSD at all.

Did you mean buying an SSD from Alibaba?

EDIT: Pretty sure that they only do wholesale.

Cheap SSDs are worse than blue caviar HDDs dont buy them they suck.

Alibaba does wholesale only. Its good if you plan to start a new brand at your contry.

For 1piece purchase, i think you mean aliexpress. You definitelly get what you pay for, its good for clothes, some small stuff but I would definitelly not recommend buying SSD there. Just wait till you find a good deal on ebay or somewhere for used one (if you really need one) and ask seller for complete scan so you know what you r buying before you pay. Thats my advice.

wow aliexpress is new to me.

Welcome to chineese e-bay :)

Just be sure to read carefully what you buy. Also in case of buying clothes, remember, that Asian sizes are 1-3 sizes smaller than EU sizes and 2-4 sizes smaller than US sizes.

Lol I live in Hong Kong and this is news to me. If wanna go on a shopping spree here in this area you wanna go to taobao.com I'd say that this is the Chinese Ebay/Amazon but better.
