I agree. It would be much easier for me anyways since have a good deal of time to listen while driving etc but my time available for watching can be limited sometimes.
Honestly that's the way I listen to it now anyways. The only difference is that I play the video on my phone with the screen locked, so I only stream audio. It would be nice, however, if they did have just the audio to download so I didn't have to rely on streaming, and could have the file itself on the phone.
They even do video podcasts now, so if they got to a part where you wanted to see what was going on, you could just unlock the phone, see what was going on, then resume right back to having the phone in the pocket.
With an audio only file the download time would be shortened by alot though and sometimes time is in short supply and the internet i bad. Im in Hawaii and 40mbps down is about as good as it gets in my case. PS I can't wait to get back to the mainland!
In the most recent episode of The Tek a download server for Tek Support members was talked about.
If they also made audio-only versions available that would be a nice feature for listening to the shows while out and about (like Jupiter Broadcasting does).
Basically, use the existing audio to create the podcast and mention it on some shows (maybe have something unique about the podcast as an incentive). Assume that at least 5% of the YouTube viewers will subscribe (avg views of last 4 episodes is currently 83676). Resulting in 4183 subscribers, who eventually boost the podcast's search rankings and increase exposure to tech enthusiasts who might enjoy the show. ...or the whole thing could totally flop, but I'd still use it. :)
I currently download the audio from YouTube and transfer it via cable to my phone. It would be more convenient as a podcast feed - downloadable anywhere, accessible without streaming, and on a single device.
Any update on this? I dont have the time to sit and watch the Tek for an hour (as much as I'd like to), but a Podcast (on Pocket Casts preferably) would be great.
The page isnt finished and doesnt link directly to the audios yet but if you click the titles and go just before the comments the audio version is there.
