The hyperloop concept is cool, it would mean i could work the other side of the world and be back home for lunch. Next i'd like to see a factory that makes a factory.
Cool episode guys. Really nice to see Qain back in the tek, I always enjoy his perspective. I like to watch his videos on his channel, but wish they were a lot longer.
I'm curious mainly about China, but Hong Kong also. Did you happen to see what working conditions were like? Is there a lot of poverty? How about pollution?
What I got from The Tek is that Sourceforge's policy dictates that a software which isn't updated in 18 months is technically abandoned by the developer.
GIMP still has a GNU Public Licence, Sorceforge have created a new installer package which bundles in optional softwares. The GIMP application itself isn't modified.
@5:30 minutes into the video: that's why China has become an 'industrial powerhouse' (tech powerhouse) due to manufacturing goods for Western countries at a much cheaper labour-cost.
And of course Western companies will purchase at a cheaper cost from Chinese factories, then charge a massive 'mark-up' when they retail to consumers in their own countries.
Unsure if this has been said in the comments but amazon hardware warehouses, computer equipment and all that junk, are automated. Clothing however isn't because the data basing system they have is iffy with what size box you need for a shirt. So if you get a shirt and it's in a huge box for reason the person packing it just went by what the system told them.
This may be true of some products, but I have done import/export work before from Asia (namely Korea) and is you aren't charging at least 3x the manufacturing price you're losing money due to the massive overhead on getting the products in your store. I was importing from Korea to the Netherlands at the time.
