About solar freaking roadways... why roadways? Why not roofs, or anything that doesn't get as much use as a road? Seems really impractical considering the wear and tear roads get.
@Logan Boise Idaho & High Speed internet, considering that the local legistlators consider 100Mb/s to be "Lightning Fast" and a 300GB/mo BW cap to be "Reasonable" on top of the "High Speed" internet only being available downtown or near Micron, Excuse me for being Cynical but I will believe it when I see it....
I'm reminded of a line from The Kek 002: "Would you buy AMD?...I'd buy AMD" This gives a whole new meaning to it.
In all seriousness though, while I don't really like the idea of Valve outright buying AMD, I do like the idea of them throwing some money at AMD in exchange for manpower to do more with SteamOS and Linux gaming optimizations in general. Valve does have a lot of really smart, capable people working there, but they have been branching out in the last few years. They now have a game controller, a STB (Steam Link) as well as a new OS to maintain. There comes a time when 300 or so employees just isn't enough. (of course, many would argue that it was never enough especially in their customer service dept.)
Something that I would like to see as far as supporting infrastructure for self-driving cars is leaky RF lines buried in the roads. Rain and snow still confuse sensors quite a bit. But if there were leaky RF lines marking the boundaries of each lane, that could largely solve that issue.
I'm thinking on that idea that you bring up about having an image of the government saving the children by strangling them with their bare hands and if anyone is planning to do that...I think it'd look pretty spot on in the style of an 18th century woodcut.
Fuck Valve. I permanently want GoG as my service of choice now, and it's making me sad that Valve has such a monopoly on all my favorite games. ToS states that we own the licenses, not our own games. This is unprecedented gamer hate. And then they buy AMD? We'd just be waiting for Nvidia 2.0 to happen.
Australia is not that far behind Britain in the ''stupidity-on-the-internet' paradigm.
"MaCarthyism' is also being mirrored in a form of 'far-right' politics in Australia's prime minister Tony Abbott's policies.
Abbott is also the Australian prime minister who possesses the opinion that primary school students (elementary school) learning computer programming is a joke.
Yes, Australia is in great hands with idiots like this leading our country.
