This is one of my favorite albums by a great band that has sadly called it quits. But i felt like sharing this because every time i hear the name snowden this is what i think of. this whole album captures the feeling of the events surrounding snowden. as a concept album,Panopticon's focus is on the proliferation of surveillance technologies throughout modern society and the government's role in that spread. The album's title is derived from philosopher Jeremy Bentham's panopticon prison ideal and philosopher/historian Michel Foucault's later allegorical appropriation of the concept.
Bentham's intention was that the prisoners be placated through the fear of constant surveillance, which he described as “a new mode of obtaining power of mind over mind, in a quantity hitherto without example"
