The Soaring Penguin Custom Build [To Be]

Good day Tekkers,

I think this may or may not be my first actual topic here,so yes, indeed, thank you for spreading the red carpet.Much appreciated.

In any case, after surviving for 2+ years on my Acer laptop (specs below),I decided it is time for an upgrade. So away to the lands of eBay I went to sell of some stuff I had layin round the house and lo and behold I managed to scour up some ca$h!

The specs of my laptop are as follows:

CPU:Intel Core i7-720QM Quad Core at 1.6GHz

GPU:NVIDIA GeForce 310M with 512MB of dedicated video memory

RAM:2x2 sticks=4GB

HDD:1TB Seagate hard drive named after a fish probably

So yeah,as you can probably ascertain I am quite some years behind in terms of gaming specs, but here is what I plan to build!

CPU:AMD FX-6300 Six Core at 3.5GHz (Bought)

Motherboard:MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+ (Bought)

GPU:Powercolor Radeon R9 270X PCS+ 2GB

RAM:2X4 sticks=8GB(Haven't decided the brand yet, although I am open to CHEAP suggestions)

HDD:1TB Seagate Barracuda (again with the fish name)

Case:Enermax Ostrog Black+Blue (Bought)

PSU:EVGA 500W ATX12V/EPS12V

So yeah, while I still need some money to buy the rest, I certainly am happy for being able to buy at least SOME of the parts.

Cheers for reading.

It will be much easier to do this if you plan a budget. For 700-800 dollars, you can get a really good PC that can run all games @ 1080P ultra settings. Check out this build, it has the parts you already bought and I added some other things like GPU, monitor, PSU etc

I'm aiming for $600

$600, tower only.

Anything wrong with mine?

of the parts you have left to buy... the HDD (Seagate Barracudas have the worst reliability by a good margin)... and a different GPU manufacturer... wouldn't have gone with that mobo... and there's better cases for the same price... but what's done is done :P

this is $6 over budget... assuming you hadn't bought anything yet :P

You mean $600 excluding the parts you already bought and monitor?
