The small linux problem thread

One of the best

I really want Manjaro to work but audio is messed up in games, it sounds speed up and distorted, that is the only thing keeping me from Manjaro.(currently on Kubuntu)

How to install lib32-lcms2 in ubuntu linux? I am trying to make League of Legends work in Elementary but the game crashes after champion select. When I reinstall directx in Play On Linux, POL then decides adobe air snapped it's own neck and jumped off a cliff and the police couldn't find the body.

I found on a forum that lib32-lcms2 can fix this issue but there is no way to install it in the ubuntu app centre or in synaptic. I can download the source and partially compile it but it fails despite having the packages.

I am mostly hoping at this point that someone somewhere has fixed this.

Launchpad is alien territory for me and I have no idea whether this is even useful but...

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lcms2

(navigated from that point to wind up on a page like...)
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/vivid/i386/liblcms2-2/2.6-3ubuntu1

No idea if this actually helps or if you even trust trying random packages from there, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

Can you post the terminal output of source compilation?

Definitely expect breakage. If you update once a week you should be fine though. I had to update Arch back when I ran it once a day otherwise it'd likely break...

Did you use a guide to install the game? I found like 3 guides, 2 Ubuntu ones and one Arch one. The Arch one talks about lib32-lcms2 while the Ubuntu one does not.

This probably wont help, but just putting it out there. This guy on the Play on Linux Forums solved the problem where after Champion Select gets stuck on the Logo. He says that directx causes adobe air to break and that setting something to "integrate, native" fixed the problem with adobe air.

From the Arch Linux Forum: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/League_of_Legends

Compatibility Steps
Hostname (Fixes the game failing to run after Champion Select screen)
First you will want to find your hostname.

cat /etc/hostname

Then you will want to make sure your /etc/hosts file uses your
hostname over localhost, you can do this by opening /etc/hosts with an
editor of your choice.

nano /etc/hosts

Then replace all mentions of localhost with the hostname you got from
the first command (this change requires a system restart, without this
your game will fail after champion select with a "Bad Window" error)

Also on this page in the PoL forum :

Look for a guy called PeacemakerARG he has the same problem and a couple people replied with their ideas.

Depends on the type of update and on your configuration. One time I updated my Arch after 3 months without issues, while sometimes a daily one package update can break your system.

Yes I have followed many guides and have edited the arch wiki notes on league.

League of Legends is probably trying to tell you to jump ship to M$.

Try doing this

I know I'm way too late but I got the same problem and fixed adding the
line "x3d_platform=1"(without quotes) in the [General] section of
Config/game.cfg in the game directory. - found from here - https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=31794&sAllBugs

or setting the hostname - https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29609

Anyway, happy Thanksgiving.

Time to use this thread again.

Anyone know of a way to start Steam without opening any windows on Ubuntu?

Try: Alt+F2 steam

Oh, I meant without opening any Steam windows.

Do you want to run steam minimized or run a game without opening steam?

Steam minimized.

steam -silent

Having a little problem with Opera being my web browser

This happens after recording in obs and playing tf2 for 20 minutes. I want to say my card overheats but I have no evidence of that.

It's not exactly a problem for me it's just really annoying. It will become a problem if I am rendering in kdenlive and this happens.

Anyone knows how to install "ia32-libs" in 15.10 ? Using multiarch does not work (it did work in 14.04 and 15.04).
