Okay so why did I post this in here? because the design has to be able to play with Linux, this is not a problem really. but I aint running RT on ARM, forget having a cut down experience.
CPU - ARM based CPU, Cortex A53
Why this? ARM is more battery efficient than X86 or X64 counterparts, also ARM can be fan less, personally I do not mind a small fan keeping it that much cooler, the noise does not bother me too much, but the ability for ARM to run fan less is very good, Intel can also do this, but not as well as ARM, wouldnt mind something AMD ARM based also ;)
RAM - 4GB
Why this? I would have the OS be something like chromium OS, but with auto updates to builds, so something similar to beta channel in Chrome OS, for this 4GB RAM is fine, the fact I could use Arch and strip the kernel also makes it lighter, and Linux in general does not take much memory with lightweight DEs.
Also as proven with small distros like Android, we dont need all this RAM that OEMs throw in, 3GB on android is a waste of RAM, this has more tasks than Chrome OS, and this can come with 4GB RAM, so really with decent RAM management we dont need it, maybe memory compression. Remember its web based OS not local.
Small SSD with Faster speeds.
Why this? So SSDs are blisteringly fast, but I would love an SSD that has small memory say 16/32GB but is stupidly fast, so maybe make it PCI based or M.2 based over SATA, SATA is old and slow, so upgrade it, possibly something at the 1gbps mark ;) and again web based OS so no need for mass storage.
Touchscreen but with Apples supposed new screen tech.
Why this? Okay so 1080p is fine for me, with qHD possibly? but apple is said to have tech that stops your screen getting grubby marks all over it, now this would be brilliant for touch screen, annoys me so much does having marks over my screen. also that sapphire screen thing looks good ;) but I would have this in OLED tech with Samsungs Grey scale ability so I can massively improve battery life, combined with ARM this would be superb.
backlit white LED keyboard UK layout
Why this? I live in UK and like backlit,
Coreboot and SeaBIOS
Why this? Open source and the fact they are supposed to run better with Linux, makes the system more stable and responsive. all about pure speed here.
11 inch form
Why this? Portability is key for me, i love small laptops also, this would be excellent to throw in my bag.
Minimal design with strong chassis
I like slim sleek notebooks, but with minimal design, I love the Acer C720 design, but would like a stronger chassis so when I do throw it in my bag, it still works lol, but not unibody, hate that concept and able to easily take the case apart for repairs.
Thats is really what would you have? Post below!
