Does anybody have any experience with the NEST or KEVO, I'm looking into buying them and wanted to know if anybody has saved money with them and is there any cool automation features?
peace.

I got a Nest, the set up was real easy, the mobile app works. uh, it's a thermostat, it does what it needs too, keeps us nice and comfy, recently we've just had it off since the weather has been okay, but it's pretty awesome when you need it.
I like that you can be lazy and just flick on your phone and change the temp on the Nest and it kicks on and it learns your habits and whatever. I guess its supposed to learn weather and junk when you connect it to wifi but I'm not sure if that even made a difference.
Turn it on, be happy that it works, obsess over it for a week or two then forget it exists and enjoy comfy house temps.
I was thinking about getting a NEST a few months back. I did come across some reports that they were burning out some AC units which gave me pause... but I had a bit of a power snafu a couple months ago and as a result had to do a crap ton of work on the house in the aftermath (I never want to see paint, plaster or drywall again!). So because of that, I'm kinda home maintenanced out at the moment. Even something as simple as replacing a thermostat is just something I'm not going to bother with for a while. Maybe around winter I'll start looking into it again.
Anyway, I'd look into the reports of the NEST damaging AC units. They may have addressed the issue, they may not have. Just a heads up on info I turned up when I was researching them.
I bought it and it's so true, I looked at for a couple of days and now it's just a thermostat :)
I did have a look into it, there have solved a known problem with the Field Effect Transistors (FETs) in the base to control the equipment as opposed to the traditional relays used by other thermostats.
What I imagine was happening was the FETs and base stations are shorting out, effectively leaving the switch in the 'On' position. this seems to be solved now.
Nice Tshirt design by the way WhiskeyRanger! Love my Tshirt
Ah, that's good to know. At least you don't have to worry about your AC unit burning out on you lol.
Awesome! Which one did you get?
Viking Moon, great design, you've done more?
Thanks : ) Yeah, I've done a few of the shirts in the store. Besides the Viking, I did the 4 NSA shirts, the Facepalm, iStruggle, the Penguin (it was a design of the month, so no longer available) as well as one mystery shirt that has yet to be revealed. Everything else was done by other artists who's names I unfortunately don't know. I'm actually curious who did the Taipei design. I think it turned out pretty well.
Cool man it's really good to know that the community here are so involved.
