Apparently this has happened before Microsoft acquired Github and has kept happening ever since. Does not excuse Microsoft from making the service better https://www.reddit.com/r/github/comments/9ebinm/i_havent_left_microsoft_github_with_the_alarmists/
According to the VKx discord, the user profile was automatically flagged due to reports and has been hidden.

Apparently the Github account got flagged for no apparent reason according to this post on Reddit

Hmmmm. Welp, time for valve to buy the projuct! Lol.

Not just the repo, the entire account.

FIRE IN A CROWDED THEATER!

Aren’t they already supporting the development?

Since this isn’t the first time something like this has happened, why don’t they just stay at Gitlab.

Because Github established themselves early on as the primary Open Source friendly platform (ironically, being non-open source). Microsoft buying them caused an exodus, but clearly not enough of one.

I’ve got a feeling that this has something to do with Microsoft wanting to slow the adoption of Linux on the Desktop, but I think it’s too early to say that definitively. I’ll be watching the situation.

EDIT: s/Gitlab/Github

For Valve to host their own instance of Gitlab would be pretty optimal.

Well, he’s got a mirror on gitlab.com right now. Should be fine.

You mean Github.

Yes. That’s what I meant.

This means the Haagch nightly builds are now permanently broken.

It’s back online… without a word from Github support

We’ll see what happens.

The haagch nightly builds have to move to Gitlab git requests if this happens again.

I doubt it’ll happen again. This is usually a one-time thing.

People are discussing on discord that this must not happen again and are looking to detach themselves from github. Also the fact that hiding a user breaks any repository that user has contributed.
