The Internet In Australia

These days, it's basically just this....

This isn't a complaint post, just a bit of humour :) I've grown up with this level of internet so it's not so bad, being used to it and all!

(at least The Daily Show geoblock above has context and a link to another place to where the same video isn't available...)

Yes yes I know using a VPN tunnel is a solution, but in a country of terrible internet, slowing the net down even just a bit by using a VPN is completely noticable! But perhaps a necessary evil.

At least we only have one ISP here who is the problem (Telstra) a private company (used to be publicly owned) & a vertically integrated company, with a monopoly on the market, that own most of the infrastructure and charge a fortune for wholesaling it out to the rest of the ISP's :p (while charging their own retail division nothing to use it)

We had a glimmer of hope for a while with the NBN project when it was going to be FTTP to 90% of the country, and it actually started to get rolled out to places, but of course a government change to the right put an end to that.

Perhaps a move to Estonia is in order!

Fucking telstra! they are the worst the worst their service is so fucking bad. The came to my house dug a hole then left told us that they would get back to us, they didn't. Called them up 6 weeks later they said the would get some one out right away, no one showed up. So now there is hole out the front of my house with a bunch of yellow telstra fences around it.

Yeah Telstra's pretty great at getting things wrong
