This isn't a complaint post, just a bit of humour :) I've grown up with this level of internet so it's not so bad, being used to it and all!
(at least The Daily Show geoblock above has context and a link to another place to where the same video isn't available...)
Yes yes I know using a VPN tunnel is a solution, but in a country of terrible internet, slowing the net down even just a bit by using a VPN is completely noticable! But perhaps a necessary evil.
At least we only have one ISP here who is the problem (Telstra) a private company (used to be publicly owned) & a vertically integrated company, with a monopoly on the market, that own most of the infrastructure and charge a fortune for wholesaling it out to the rest of the ISP's :p (while charging their own retail division nothing to use it)
We had a glimmer of hope for a while with the NBN project when it was going to be FTTP to 90% of the country, and it actually started to get rolled out to places, but of course a government change to the right put an end to that.
Perhaps a move to Estonia is in order!
