Me and my friend recently built a rig using a 128gb ssd as the main drive and a 1tb hdd as the storage drive. During the windows installation we encountered so many problems it was crazy. The most popular being that the MBR would just disappear. I understood the importance of updating the firmware, but I never realized that sometimes you literally cannot use the drive long enough to update it. We ended up installing windows to the hdd and updated the ssd through that. Installed windows on the ssd, formatted the hdd. Gold. Learn from my ignorance and update first THEN install.
