The "Good Enough" build

The words "I should get an M.2 SSD" sent me on a journey to upgrade my PC

I had multiple iterations of attempts which ultimately had 2 goals in mind:

  1. M.2 SSD
  2. Enough PCI-E slots for GPUs, A soundcard, a capture card, and more stuff down the line

My first planned build would have me rebuild most of my machine. CPU, Ram and Mobo all replaced. Though my current Ram and CPU are fine as is and are quire expensive to find a direct generational replacement for.

This failed plan is showcased here:

I was set on giving up my perfectly good i7 and 32gb of ram just because I couldn't find a motherboard with the same socket that had m.2

Luckily I found a decent motherboard with M.2, the same socket as my current PC and a lot of PCI-E slots.

So I started work on the "Good Enough" build. It was... good enough.

And so I present to you, the good enough build.

Your current build is killer.
Have you considered a larger plain ol SSD and maybe an awesome jaw dropping drop dead gorgeous monitor?

Thanks (It was a pre-built system I put an R9 390 and a new PSU in)

Decent monitors in Australia are hella expensive
Usually 1080p@60fps are the only reasonably priced ones

and I rarely use an SSD for anything other then boot (windows and linux). I still have a 110GB SSD that I might use tho.

Sorry to hear that man.....I just went from a 24 to a 27 inch. It is still 1080@60 but just 3 inches made a huge difference. Partly cause my wife used a scrub-pad to clean my old 24 inch, which did not help:)

I got a free 27 inch but it feels a bit weird when I use my 24 inch right next to it
