Mantle is looked at as the HERO of PC GAMING when INFACT it was made by none other then M$ with the help of AMD. How is it Nvidia's dev team can make better drivers to reduce cpu overhead under dx9, 10, 11, 11.1 games yet AMD does not yet out of the BLUE MAKES A API with the SAME visual effects as DX11/11.1 only it uses low lvl!?!?!?
Nope not buying the fact that Mantle is ALL of AMD's doing. This all started when AMD got it's hands on M$ since the days of the Xbox 360. All the side talk from EA and OX games has been one PAID OFF CHEERLEADER EVENT. The SIDE DEAL of Mantle was AMD needs time for it's new CPU arch in order to catch up with Intel.
If you look at the time frame of AMD's new arch for cpu's and DX12 they are on the same time frame of being finished. AMD knows that the MAJORITY of pc gamer's use a Intel I5 chip set. So Mantle is just a cheap way to gain cpu/gpu marketshare. This is why Nvidia has not made it's own API because even they know this but will not Openly discuss the matter at hand.
Once Dx12 hit's the market Mantle will be FINISHED. Nvidia on the other hand has been playing dirty with it's new PhysX and gameworks program. Perfect example as of right now is a GTX 770 out performing a R9 290X in watch dogs. AMD hops that since Nvidia still plans to keeps it's software enhancements CLOSED that a low lvl API will help with performance when not having optimization code.
Intel on the other hand is NOT HAPPY about low lvl api's. Intel has made more then one payoff to keep DX a high lvl api. Since only Intel benefits from a High LVL api and makes more money with it's cpu's because of this. Look at AMD's cpu's. Price range of AMD Sempron 145 Sargas $34.99 too AMD FX-9590 Vishera priced at 259.99. Now look at Intel's line up... Intel Celeron G1610 $49.99 all the way to a Intel Core i7-3960X at a whooping $1069.99. Think of all the money Intel will lose when low lvl api's are being used by ALL developers.
As a SIDE NOTE....Nvidia introduced ideas of OpenGL being a low lvl API back at GDC in 2008. Wonder who paid them off to can that IDEA.....
So you're saying Mantle was made by Microsoft? Interesting... also not true. It's true though that Mantle is a part of an existing technology from AMD, specifically made for the handicapped Windows platform that can't use the entire tool kit AMD offers for GP-GPU software optimization.
nVidia has always refused to implement anything open source. And they always get worse at it, except for their enterprise hardware, where they have no choice because nobody uses Windows anymore for enterprise compute applications.
In the past Intel has made a lot of payoffs to M$ to not make DX low lvl back in the Win/tel days...
You will see when DX12 is out 4th quarter of 2015 all development on Mantle will be finished. By this time AMD will have it's new CPU arch out to challenge Intel. Mantle was never a threat towards Nvidia infact Nvidia like AMD both have their own company moles who keep information in check.
The only one who is going to hurt from low lvl API's in the end is Intel. The only thing I am hoping for out of all of this is that once DX12 is out AMD and Nvidia will stop slap boxing each other and start real competition with it's gpu's. I think we are all sick of 5 too 10fps differences...
Not even close to wrong. Intel has made various payoffs to M$ to keep DX not a low lvl API. Just like companies like Nintendo, Sega, Sony, have made payoffs to dev's to make garbage ports on PC.
You reference Watch Dogs... Watch Dogs is horribly unoptimized for AMD. You claim this Mantle is to allow AMD to catch up... Mantle works with all Radeon/Intel Builds and Radeon/AMD Builds.. You also claim that Microsoft Made Mantle, thats not true at all.
