I want to build a computer this summer, when custom coolers are available for the gtx 1080 ti and CPU prices get competitive, and I want to run at least 4k @ 60 hz in 40". Windows display scaling sucks. 40" is a must.
I just wanted to ask, based on the number of Korean and other 4k 40" monitors that have been used/reviewed by Wendell and the community, what is the best monitor in this category? I plan on using the setup for casual gaming and business related work.
I bought the samsung 40" monitor with HDMI 2.0. On sale.
I hate it.
Like seriously if someone will give me $300 for it, I will sell it to you right now no questions asked.
The korean monitors, some are worse than others, may not have the best reaction time so like scroll a red box on a white background and you may see some after glow. This samsung panel has it, and is generally worse than the wasabi mango 42" or one of those. It is better than the AMH U399 and I would say a bit better for color accuracy than the A409 but a bit worse in terms of response time. Different kind of panels.
Hands down the 32" crossover 324ks is the best quality panel.. but the biggest problem there is that it isn't 40" :D
The 40" wasabi mango is probably my current favorite. I do love the aesthetic of the microboard 40" though. They switched to the white-back panels which I dont like as much as the industrial metal
Crossover and wasabi mango are decent brands.
you may have some dead pixels or inconsistent backlight. that's just the nature of the beast. the cost savings is not what it once was, but occasionally you can get stuff on sale that works well.
Did I mention I hate the samsung tv? Its the 6300 -- UN40KU6300F
It doesn't even turn itself on. And the laaggggggg of not having display port and using hdmi 2.0 is.. palpable.
Like others have said there is no perfect option for a 40in 4k display. Wasabi mango was close a few years ago but those dried up and were no longer an option. The best tv I have use as a display was a Sony 830c 43in Tv. This was an IPS panel, had a flicker free backlight but I had two and both had issues.
I tried 34in Ultrawides and missed the resolution of 4k. I ended up with a 32in Acer 4k monitor and really like it. Thats the lowest I would go for 100℅ windows scaling. Text looks super sharp but not hard to read. After using it my dual 24in monitors at work looks soft and outdated haha. Wish there was a 40in just like my acer I would have picked up one in a heartbeat at the time. Now I like the 32in but I am thinking of picking up another for dual 4k.
100% sRGB, 89% AdobeRGB, and ghosts less than the Philips models. Got the white balance without calibration to about 100K within 6500K. After calibration it's spot on.
Man I guess my eyes are just not that great cause I don't notice any of what you are seeing. I guess since you do way more monitors reviews than me I will not recommend the Samsung anymore. By chance did you run it in game mode with UHD color enabled?
Thanks I love my 40" 4k for multitasking and having multiple windows open that are the size of a standard screen. My 1060 Is running my games at 4k pretty well but seems to stutter every once in a while.
