Hey all, I hope all is well. I’m in the middle of a large rack-mount server deployment. We’ve got a solid plan, a working system that meets all requirements, and everything has gone smoothly so far (knock on wood).
I was talking with one of my employees, and he got me thinking about it, so here it is the post itself.
I collaborated with experts from manufacturers, employees, colleagues, etc, to dial in a build that met all h/w requirements that we could scale, and we’re about 50 servers into the rollout with no issues.
We’ve now hit a natural pause point, so I figured I’d throw this out to the community:
How would you deploy the specs below in a data center environment?
- CPU: AMD EPYC 4858PX
- RAM: 192GB DDR5 5600
- DISK: 4 x 30TB NVMe U.2 (or 4 x 15.36TB NVMe U.2/u.3 - hotswapp
- 2x 10 Gbps (RJ45).
- IPMI
- Dual PSU
Note - Requires an enterprise-grade (minus the non-ecc RAM) + and be a rack mount server.
I had fun with this, so I thought why not ask you all.
