Text to HTML

I have a project and its completely outside of my wheelhouse.

I have heaps and heaps of plain documentation (be it inside MS word or text files) that I’m manually hand-jamming into XML files in HTML to serve on a site. Its just plain pages of guides.

Is there a tool (besides some of the shady “paste your stuff here and we convert it for you [but keep a copy for ourselves sshhh]” sites?

Would love to be able to copy over pages of text with their bolded parts, paragraphs and spacings kept at least somewhat in tact to then be saved and exported over.

basically if you paste the plain text into a dot html file it’ll be served I guess

do you intend to keep formatting?

Heaps and heaps?

I hope that it is in a common style or you will be rewriting it, essentially. Adding sections and headers, etc.

I have usually liked DocBook as a standard. If you have Word files there are tools to convert Word DOCX to DocBook. But if every Word document is its own thing with no common style usage, again, you are rewriting it.
