Temperature of CPU broken?

When I use HW monitor the cpu temperatures are only 3 and I have 8 cores.  So i am wondering why it says that. Is it because my motherboard is broken or is it only supposed to be 3 temps.

i dont realy understand what you mean, could you post  a printscreen?

I'm using HW monitor to check temperatures

I have and 8 core processor shouldn't there be 8 different temperatures instead of 3?

One temperature for each core?

Package means the whole CPU chip, I don't know how you change it to see all the individual core temps and power usage

Is that displaying the current, minimum and maximum readings?

Use AMD overdrive it is the most accurate hardware monitor for AMD cpu's.

You have 3 reading's there (you should really look at the top of the list in the program for the values) and thay will be minimum/maximum and current value's

AMD chips have never been good at giving their temperatures.

Those are your lowest core package temps, the temps at that moment and lastly the highest temps. But your CPU temp is shown in TMPIN0 and motherboard VRM's in TMPIN2. Trust me, I had the same issue with my PC but my C5F-Z mobo bios cleared my head.

The way you get your temperature reading is through an algorithm that reads the amount of power being drawn into the chip from the board iirc.

Regardless, <40C, the temperature readings of all AMD cpu's will be off. I have mine under a custom loop, and unless I'm doing something CPU intensive, it reads 5C~10C. (With 24C water in my loop) The only way to get a reading, is to stress the chip unfortunately. It's not a faulty sensor

Thank you for necroing this month old thread. It isn't a faulty sensor. Its a lack of a sensor at all. AMD temperatures are never accurate.
