Do any of you guys know what microphone Logan/Wendell use for "The Tek?" I think it is that rectangular yellow device that he uses to record his voice but I still want to know what his/Wendell's microphones are as I am planning to record rants and their microphones sound excellent. I personally am not leaning towards studio microphones.
I'm afraid I have absolutely no idea, I couldn't even find the microphone when I Googled it, but that's what Wendell says it is... I would expect the KSM-55 to be very expensive even if you could find it, and the R26 has portability function as well as seperate audio channels for background noise. In conclusion the R26 is more than you could ever need for commentary. Maybe if Wendell is around the forum he can chime in about his KSM-55 and what it's like.
oops, I meant ksm 44. Typo in my text to speech engine. R26 is more gneral purpose. ksm 44 is just a mic, but good for anything from opera, to vocals, to instruments. Also good for sound stage quality recording of technical noises. E.g ST-225 MFM hard drives. or dialup modems. For special effects in movies.
Why do you need a microphone this expensive just to record rants? Wouldn't a $60 Blue Snowball or $100 Yeti get the job done? I'm not an expert on audio by any means, but I honestly can't hear any major differences between the four.
Will you be making any use of the extra features that come with the more expensive mics? Or is sound your primary concern?
Also, feel free to enlighten me. I'm a complete noob when it comes to this type of equipment.
