So the TL;DR is there's a new person who's job is to manage what gets done.
We're getting there!
This definitely seems like a step in the right direction.
Indeed it is, but I feel like it's too little, too late.
Certainly a step in the right direction although maybe too little too late for some. Also wendell and Qain now gone is defiantly a blow for many and I don't like some of these "exclusive" ideas either.
I do hope things get sorted soon and something comes out of this mess. Although IDK if I'll be a part of any of Logan's stuff. Do hope everyone is finally happy and doing what they want though. Still waiting for an apology/explanation though.
Sidenote.
Let's be nice to Brad here. He just got hired on and is trying his best. Not really his fault about what happened so don't shoot the messenger.
While hiring a project manager will help, it still won't fill the void of having Wendell on the team. Tek Syndicate was the collaborative efforts of Logan, Wendell, and Qain. With the departure of two of the core members, the soul behind it all is gone.
I personally have pulled my pledge because I do not feel comfortable supporting @logan alone because I do not have faith that he will deliver on his promises or have genuine transparency with us. The way that the community was treated during this crisis by @logan and @pistol was childish and disappointing. Clearly @logan 's lack of business acumen and willingness to abandon his friends, who helped build the version of Tek Syndicate that made it what we loved, shows us all that he is dead set on doing what HE thinks is best for his "vision" and not concerned with what the community and fans want in any real capacity.
I could care less about a video game and a merch store. All I ever wanted from the tek was the simple, informative, and entertaining videos like The TEK (before it got shitty), Inbox.exe, and whatever cool one offs they did, and by they I mean all three of them. Wendell, Qain, and Logan had great synergy and really did amazing work together.
I recommend to all fellow community members that you seriously consider moving on and wholeheartedly supporting Qain and @wendell.
EDITS: for grammar and rewording
Cant wait to see how things turn out. @Logan, though hiring a project manager is a step in the right direction I would say you really need to direct focus on getting new talent for the channel. Without Wendell and Qain you just arent going to be able to produce the same quality of videos as you did back in the day.
Anyhow best of luck ;)
Agent Beard please... though I don't think he meets the location requirement. Perhaps the more than slightly occasional guest spot.
This is good! Still worried. But this is good. I do still feel as if the projects can't possibly be as good without @wendell and @DeusQain. I do support @Logan but I expect more out of him.
better late than never
So @Logan you hired someone new to do management of stuff. Thats all well and good, but when are you going to answer the questions from the community that were part of us ending up here in the first place?
I hope that Tek Syndicate survives all these changes - but back to my first point - and the reason so many of us are pissed off about all this.
WHERE IS THE GOD DAMNED MONEY!
Logan was the one who attracted me to Tek, but Wendell and Qain were the reasons I stayed.
I'm glad Logan is getting some help, it is going to be a up-hill battle for him to win back support and I agree he needs to surround himself with people who share his vision, but there is a lot of damage done to the brand (Tek Syndicate) and I'm not so sure he can bring it back to it's former glory..but we will see, and I wish him the best of luck.
My guess is, the new guy will also pick the questions for him. Or, rather, be a proxy for Logan and overall Tek Syndicate, so essentially like most community managers you see in video game developers' forums.
Pretty much the same for me. I remember the early TEKs when Wendell was the mystery man behind the curtain and Logan was the "face" of the show... perfection.
I found them when I was completely lost with Linux a little over a year ago.
And Wendell is practically the Magister of Linux
So you found a project manager. Great. I wish him the best of luck. No, seriously, I really do.
However, given what has been brought to light over the past week and that Logan still refuses to answer properly for what he did, I cannot support his side of Tek Syndicate any longer. Not until he's shown that he has attained the discipline, self-control and respect towards others to drive his "vision" properly. For now, that "vision" seems to have been so narrow that it marginalized the efforts of the rest of the crew (who have bent over backwards to help Logan realize it) and it drove them away.
What Wendell, Qain and co., have planned for the future sounds far more interesting and engaging than whatever short-sighted Vision Logan seems to have had. One only has to watch a TeamPGP stream to understand just how much Wendell brought to Tek Syndicate. Shame to see everyone part ways, but honestly I think it will ultimately be to everyone's benefit.
I remember when Logan was making a push to get everyone to adopt Linux in one of his videos. I joined to help newcomers with newbie problems and to generally help out when I could. He never made another video about it and nothing ever came of the push. I've noticed that this is a pattern.
