Instead of just asking for bitcoin donations, maybe you guys could start a Tek Syndicate bitcoin pool. Leave your computers running and help out Tek Syndicate. Just an idea.
You can mine bitcoins, but unless you have an ASIC it is almost useless. With my current card and the high bitcoin price over 1000 USD I would only get about $15, minus power costs. At the moment litecoin mining is actually very profitable and worth doing on your main computer when it's idle, but I'm not sure how long that will last. Currently I can make over $150 a month on my single graphics card, but that is with a difficulty under 2000 and the price over $30. I would possibly recommend upgrading to a litecoin mining pool if people are interested in mining, but I would wait and see if the price/difficulty are stable first before setting it up.
Yep Drew.It is what I was "afraid" it will happen when the ASICs rolled out.I get it that it's trendy and "screw the government" like, but at this point I see no difference between bitcoin and a regular currency, except the fact the first is way more volatile.Although it is not designed to be controlled by someone, the compute power simulates the power of a legislative body.So if anyone made some money out of it,good for them, but I'd rather use Russian ruble as an "alternate" currency.
