Tek Rumors 0014: Adblock Blocks Ransomware(?) | Nvidia Open Sources Select Gameworks Features(?) | CM13 'Stable' Finally Released for Select Nexus Devices

So if you're a bad apple such as myself, and you use Adblock, for the most part it's used to block Ads on websites and un-necessary bullshit on sites we like to browse.. turns out it's also capable of blocking ads that have ransomware built into it. Maybe a reason to use it(?) sure, but of course content creators who thrive on ads well something like this will make that revenue worse.

Nvidia being shady as always has done the unthinkable, they've added new features to gameworks and released the source code to the public? LOLWUT? well turns out they've added
* Nvidia Volumetric Lighting
* Nvidia Hybrid Frustum Traced Shadows
* Nvidia Voxel Accelerated Ambient Occlusion

Strange that the released the code, that means Developers can finally optimize AMD cards for these features. but what about everything else?

If you're a guy who doesn't like to use Stock Android but want Stock Android will added features well GOOD NEWS. Cyanogenmod after months of having nightlie releases of CM13 (Based on Marshmallow) we now have a stable release of CM13. it's available for the Nexus 7, 6, 6P, 5X and Nexus 9.

NVIDIA isn't fooling anybody, they are still a horribly proprietary company...

the thing with GPUOpen is will people get on the ball. there's a lot of AMD features that are open source that not many developers are taking advantage of. TressFX is one of them. there's 2 more games coming with TressFX.

Yep, another reason I still use ublock as I don't want to deal with ransomware. For content creators I like, I throw a buck or two a month for support.

Last year at GDC, Nvidia released the source code for the CPU implementation of PhysX and at the time, I thought they would never do something like that. Now we have them giving out the source code to most (not all) of the libraries of GameWorks. What's next? Open sourcing Cuda at GDC 2017? That would be wild. Still think that Nvidia is a shady company (that makes great products) but I will clap my hand for them doing this.

Finally, been waiting on CM 13 for a while. Now if only I had a Nexus 6p instead of my locked-to-shit Galaxy s6...
