Tek Rumors 0012: Microsoft Ends "Project Astoria" | John McAfee: We're 20 Years Behind China and Russia | Apple's Siri Comes to OS X

If you don't already know, Microsoft has been struggling to get developers on the Windows "Touch" Ecosystem. a few months into Windows 10, Microsoft had Announced Project Astoria and Project Islandwood. If you don't know what those are, they are basically "Bridges" or to some degree, emulators for Windows (to some extent) with Islandwood, and Astoria, you are able to port over your Android apps to the Windows Ecosystem (with Project Astoria) and You can Port over your iOS apps to Windows (With Project Islandwood). well as of today Microsoft has shut down Project Astoria, which was the bridge to install Android apps on Windows. (Which actually worked, 95% of the time) but the problem with it, was that it was convoluted and not much info was explained, even at Build 2015. Microsoft has stated they will focus on the other 'Bridges" which is Islandwood (for iOS Apps) and the newly aquired, Xamarin (Which is supposed to replace Astoria).

John McAfee the former CEO of McAfee has been throwing his two cents in the Apple versus FBI Fistfight that has been on the radar recently. well MaximumPC has gotten a chance to speak on Security, and he feels we are 20 years behind, Russia and China when it comes to security in technology. he has also mentioned that the Government is Illiterate when it comes to CyberSecurity and the processes that go to keeping things secure. he also goes into detail on how the iPhone is easy to hack, and that all closed platforms are easy to hack as well. it's was an interesting read and somethings seems like he speaking out his ass and some are reasonable.

#INB4 APPLE IS SPYING ON YOU SOON..

Apple has announced that in a future update for OS X they wish to bring the digital assistant Siri to the OS. a idea stolen from Microsoft? yes. but let's start the un-necessary tyrade that plagues Microsoft. Apple is going to spy on you, collect telemetry, and will do this all without your consent cause why not, WE NEED MONEY TOO..

thanks for the info OP

apple one of the main user of drm... they are spying on you. Its just they don't want to give it to feds for free... They want feds to pay up for the key to this phone... thats the precedence they want to take. Because nothing feels so good, like selling your customers to highest bidder... not giving away this for free.

Yep, they definitely are. Bummer, to say the least. Idiocracy, The faculty, and 1984 all teamed up, mixed together, and hacked their way into our world. For the sake of what? "Look at what I ate for dinner. Look at me jumping while someone takes my picture." Dumb. It sure would be awesome if people thought about stuff in-depth instead of eating the free handout.
