Tearing on a second screen (Manjaro, GNOME)

I'm using Manjaro with GNOME 3.18.2
AMD R260X, open source drivers. Primary screen connected via DVI, secondary via HDMI.

There is a tear in the middle of my secondary display.
Interestingly, the tear is only visible on my desktop applications; when moving windows, scrolling firefox or on youtube videos.

The tear isn't there when I view youtube videos in full screen, neither does my mouse cursor tear.

I'm a noob, don't know where to start looking. Thanks for any help.

X server can only sync to a single display.

you wont be able to get around that no mater how hard you try friend.

Wellp, waiting for wayland I am, then.
Still, how come full screen videos aren't tearing? Even 60fps ones.

U could try different compositors, eg compton or xcompmgr and see if the tearing persists

I hadn't heard of Manjaro. I looked into it and I'm excited to try it out. Thanks dude.

wayland has the same issue from my experience, its not as bad, but it still has it.

I think the shitty drivers are partially to blame, and the fact they where developed for Xorg which has NO FUCKING CONCEPT OF FRAMES ffs.

so don't hold your breath.

personally I think Windows is the better system for desktop and day to day usage, with linux being best for work stations and servers.

Gonna look into compositors, thanks.

For day to day light desktop usage, I've enjoyed linux far more than Windows.
Right now, the only reason for me to use Windows once in a while is the infamous lack of application and driver support.
I can run hearthstone and some older games using playonlinux no problem.

And it's been a great learning experience so far. I'm looking forward to more widespread addoption.
