Tax Software Recommendations

Just wondering what tax software you can recommend. I’m stuck with TurboTax, and it’s annoying broken pile of shit.

Just my personal two cents, but find yourself a local mom-and-pop accounting or bookkeeping firm to do your taxes.

Nothing wrong with doing it yourself, but I hire a plumber to do a plumbers job and a mechanic to do a mechanics job. Its just not worth the hassle to try to do something poorly yourself when a professional could do a twice better job in half the time.

For both 2018 and 2019 my SO and I compared results from TurboTax and my accountant. In 2018 TurboTax said she would get $150 back, my accountant charged $75 and got her $300. In 2019 TurboTax said she would get about $200, my accountant charged $75 and got her $400.

This way you get to support a local business and you typically get far more out of it to boot.

WITH THAT SAID -
QuickBooks is halfway decent if you are running a business, and gives you easy to use reports where you can just copy/paste fields into your tax forms to mail to the IRS.

Switched to H&R Block and it was the best Tax Return experience I have ever had. It was the fastest too. Highly recommending it to anyone that uses TurboTax. I will NEVER use TurboTax again.
