System crontab replaced and not working

Hi,

So I reinstalled Linux on my server, and deleted the crontab in /etc/crontab . I replaced it with the one from my other server which was working fine, changed the ownership and permissions to what they were, and now it's not working. Any ideas? I don't want to reinstall again.

Maybe the environment variables aren't the same?

I think the problem was I added an extra crontab command that wasn't using correct Syntax and would fail, and as such none of the crontab commands ran.
