Syslog Curiosity with rpc.mountd

I have an NFS server with multiple clients that all mount the same share using the same autofs config, and in the server’s syslog. I see many entries for rpc.mountd, but only ever from one IP address. The only difference I can think of with the configuration on this one particular machine is that there is a symlink to the share in another directory. Anyone have any idea why this might be?

I decided to refresh my memory on setting up kerberos principles, and after recreating my keytab file on another machine, I started seeing the same logging from that one. Since I don’t need all of this verbose logging, I did some digging and ended up running the following to make the syslog less noisy.

sudo rpcdebug -m nfsd -c all
sudo rpcdebug -m nfsd -s auth

One final update in case this thread becomes relevant to anyone else… What I really needed was

sudo rpcdebug -m rpc -c all
