Swapping Drives?

Hello, I am new to building/messing in PCs, and I have recently bought a new SSD.  I was wondering the easiest way to transfer all of my data (As in Windows 8 and everything else installed on the drive) onto this new drive.  (If required, I have an external drive).

Thanks.

Just hook a sata and power cable to it and windows should see the new ssd.

What brand of SSD is it? Some give you access to software that will transfer your OS to your new drive.

Should the trial version work?

I like to use MiniTool Partition Wizard Server Edition to make any changes with drives in my systems. It's built in with the ability to copy the boot partition from the HDD with aligning the partition before it gets copied onto a SSD in DOS before windows boots up.
