Hey guys,
I currently have the xfi and I love it. I am going to built a new computer in the near future, in a few weeks, a z87 system, and I am going for the maximus gene. Out of curiousty, how does the on board stack up against the xfi.
For those of you guys who are curious about my future build and or want to give tips:
Corsair 350D with window
Corsair 8gb Vengance Pro (red)
Corsair HX 750W
Asus maximus 6 gene
4670K
EVGA 770 (might go 780 depending on budget)
HyperX 3K/SX900/Force GS 120gbish ssd which ever is cheaper
2 or 3 tb hd
Will be pulling my old H70 from my old rig and xfi card
X fi is a great card, but the onboard or the ROG boards is now on par with it. So with that ROG board, you pretty much don't need a sound card unless you are getting a pro level sound card.
except for doubleagents post u didn't get much reply to ur q. if u want something tested specific let me know. got 3 asus boards running here. 1 with SB x-fi titanium HD, other has the xtreme fx 2 and the third one has the xtreme fx 3 and an asus phoebus installed (ROG version). never really gave the soundcards much attention since i do all my heavy music stuff on an edirol FA-101 or a mackie Onyx 1640. and for gaming all 4 "simple" soundcards do the trick.
