Supermicro X9SRi-F Won't Boot With ECC Memory

I have a Supermicro X9SRi-F with Intel Xeon CPU E5-1650 v2

I purchased this memory: A-Tech 256GB 8x 32GB 4Rx4 PC3L-12800 DDR3 1600 MHz ECC LRDIMM Server Memory RAM | eBay
And then this memory: 32GB PC3L-12800L Supermicro MEM-DR332L-SL03-LR16 Equivalent Server Memory RAM | eBay

Neither of the modules worked. I installed non ecc memory and the system boots and runs fine.

With the ECC modules installed the system will start the fans and the IPMI light will blink like normal, but there is no video output on the vga. The IPMI web interface shows that the system is on but there is no video output from the IPMI, no system temps in the IPMI interface and the system can not be powered off from the IPMI or the powerbutton.

I have never worked with ECC memory so I feel like I must be missing something.
If anyone could give me a place to start that would be appreciated.
Thank you.

EDIT:
I have tried setting ‘DDR Speed’ in the BIOS from ‘Auto’ to ‘Force DDR3 1600’ with no change.

I also tried changing ‘DRAM RAPL Mode’ in BIOS from ‘DRAM RAPL MODE1’ to ‘Disabled’ with no change.

Things to check if you haven’t already:

  • Does the CPU support ECC RAM?
  • Does the mainboard supports ECC RAM?
  • Did you buy ECC RAM compatible with the CPU and mainboard?
  • Are there any settings in the BIOS to enable ECC RAM usage?

It’s a bit of an off-chance as you’ve successfully installed non-ECC RAM, but still:

  • Did you install the ECC RAM correctly?

Also, make sure there’s no specific procedure you must follow to allow ECC RAM to be used. IIRC there was at least one system (not necessarily this particular model) where one needed to install ECC RAM in a particular manner for it to work at all. Can’t recall which, where or how long ago, sorry.

HTH!

Thank you for the reply.
I after your reply I checked more and found that the E5-16** CPU support ECC but do not support Load Reduced modules.

According to this forum post.

I guess now I know to check that. Looks like ill be getting different memory.
Thanks again.

EDIT:
It also says the same on Supermicro site.
