I thought it would be fun for everyone to share the best boot times they have been able to achieve. Here is a formula for how to show yours off, I'll be posting mine momentarily:
Other Telling Factors:
For timing, we are measuring from completed POST(selecting from grub for linux/bsd people) to being able to open an application. You should have it automatically logging you in as well. Also, feel free to share any fun tips you may have for speeding up boot times.
OS: Elementary OS (A fork of Ubuntu)
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 128GB
CPU: Core i5 @ 1.7Ghz
RAM: 12 Gb DDR3 @ 1333MHz
Other Telling Factors: N/A
Well I'm using BootRacer to measure my times. I'll just post my laptop for now.
OS: Windows 8.1 with StartIsBack
HDD: Samsung 1TB 5400RPM Drive
CPU: Intel Core i7-4500U, 1.8-3.0Ghz (Runs around 2.8 or so on average)
RAM: 8GB Kingston DDR3 @ 1600Mhz
Overall, I'm really happy with the start up times I'm getting. For a 5400RPM laptop drive that is about half full and having a shit ton of programs running on startup it isn't bad at all.
Time:32.046 (but i think i can manually start an application faster, this time is till all startup items are ready)
OS: Windows 8.1 Enterprise
HDD: WD 1TB Black Edition
RAM: 8 GB Corsair 1600(running at 1333)
Other Telling Factors:Turbo enabled (10% OC ASrock motherboard thingy)
Elementary OS running in VBOX 24 seconds :D (yeah linux is faster, but i can't play games or watch anime.... VLC show them black and white )
